Introduction
Hello! ? My name is Doreen Neema, I am 22 years old and I come from Kenya. I am a warm, caring, responsible, and open-minded young woman who loves meeting new people, learning about different cultures, and creating meaningful connections. I speak English and Swahili, and I am currently learning German because one of my biggest dreams is to experience life in Germany and become more confident speaking the language.
I am very excited about becoming an Au Pair because I don't see it simply as an opportunity to travel abroad. For me, it is an opportunity to become part of a family, share my culture, learn from yours, and build a genuine connection with children. I would love to experience everyday German family life—from preparing meals together and helping with homework to playing, going for walks, reading bedtime stories, and sharing little moments that make a house feel like home.
I have experience caring for children through my family. I have spent time caring for my 2-year-old niece and my 6-year-old nephew, and I have learned that children need much more than someone simply watching them. They need patience, attention, encouragement, affection, and someone who can make them feel safe while allowing them to explore and learn. I genuinely enjoy spending time with children, listening to their little stories, playing with them, and watching their personalities grow.
I also have a background in Nutrition and Dietetics, which has taught me to be responsible, observant, organized, and attentive to people's wellbeing. I have completed First Aid training, and my studies and practical experiences have taught me how important patience, cleanliness, responsibility, and good communication are when caring for others.
Why should you choose me? Because I would not come into your home thinking only about what I can receive from the experience. I want to contribute. I would love to become someone your children can trust, laugh with, learn from, and feel comfortable around. I am willing to help with the children's daily routines, light household tasks related to them, preparing simple meals, keeping their spaces organized, and supporting you wherever my responsibilities as an Au Pair allow.
At the same time, I understand that being an Au Pair means respecting your family's rules, privacy, routines, and way of life. I am not looking for a perfect family—I am looking for a kind family with whom we can communicate openly, respect one another, and create a happy experience together.
I am also very excited about the cultural exchange. I would love to introduce your children to Kenya—our food, music, language, traditions, stories, and the beautiful diversity of our country. And in return, I would be delighted to learn about German traditions, food, celebrations, and everyday life from you.
I am currently working hard on my German and preparing for my A2 examination. I know that my German will continue improving with practice, and I would be very happy to speak German with your family every day. I am not afraid of making mistakes—I believe mistakes are part of learning!
I am looking forward to starting my Au Pair journey in early 2027, and I would be incredibly happy to find a host family who sees me not simply as an Au Pair, but as a young woman who genuinely wants to become part of their family for this special chapter of her life.
If you are looking for someone caring, responsible, cheerful, respectful, curious, and eager to learn, I would love the opportunity to get to know you.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter. I hope that one day soon, instead of being a future host family, you will be the family I get to call my German host family.
I would love to hear from you, meet you through a video call, and get to know your family and children.
Warmest greetings from Kenya,
Doreen Neema
