Dear Family,
My name is Monika. I am Austrian and have been living in Dubai since 2021. I am a qualified Social and Integration Pedagogue with a university degree (Mag. phil.) and formal Montessori training. I am also a mother of three grown-up children, so I combine professional educational experience with many years of practical parenting experience.
Working with children and families has always been an important part of my life. My professional background includes Early Years education, Montessori education, integration pedagogy, family support, social pedagogy and parent-child education. I also led parent-child playgroups for young children for several years, independently planning and preparing age-appropriate activities.
My experience is not limited to Early Years. Through my work in family support and social pedagogy, I have also supported school-age children and adolescents and accompanied families through different developmental stages and individual challenges. This has given me a broad understanding of children's emotional, social and developmental needs from early childhood through adolescence.
I especially enjoy supporting babies, toddlers and young children because the early years are such an important stage of development. My approach is warm, calm, patient and respectful. I believe children learn best when they feel safe, understood and encouraged.
I do not believe in putting unnecessary academic pressure on very young children. Instead, I create natural learning opportunities through play, conversation, books, songs, music, movement, creative activities, sensory play and everyday experiences. Depending on the child's age and needs, I can support language and vocabulary, fine and gross motor skills, concentration, independence, confidence, social skills, emotional development and early literacy and numeracy.
One Montessori principle that has stayed with me throughout my work is: "Help me to do it myself." I like to give children opportunities to try things independently while being close enough to provide security, guidance and encouragement.
For example, with a toddler I might turn a simple walk into a learning experience by talking about what we see, naming colours, counting objects and encouraging curiosity. At home, we might read together, sing songs, paint, work with simple puzzles, use sensory materials, practise everyday skills or prepare a simple snack together. With older children, I can support homework, learning routines, language development, organisation, confidence and age-appropriate independence.
I also place great importance on emotional security and respectful boundaries. Children need warmth and affection, but they also benefit from consistency, routines and clear, age-appropriate limits. I try to understand each child's individual personality, strengths and pace of development rather than expecting every child to learn in the same way.
My experience in integration pedagogy and family support has taught me to observe carefully and adapt my approach to individual developmental needs. I value open and respectful communication with parents and am happy to share observations, progress and ideas for the child's next developmental steps.
As a mother myself, I understand that inviting someone into your family and trusting them with your child is a very personal decision. Reliability, discretion, punctuality and trust are therefore extremely important to me.
German is my native language and I communicate confidently in English. I am happy to speak German with children and naturally integrate the language into everyday activities if this is something the family would like.
I am based in Dubai, hold my own valid UAE residence visa and have a driving licence. I am primarily looking for a long-term, part-time, live-out position as an Educational Nanny, Governess, Family Educator or Early Years support professional.
I am comfortable with pets and enjoy nature, outdoor activities, reading, music and continuing to learn myself. Now that my own children are grown up and more independent, I have the time and flexibility to bring my experience, patience and energy to another family.
My university degree, Montessori diploma, professional certificates and references are available upon request. I have also completed child and youth welfare first-aid training in the past and am happy to renew a current paediatric first-aid qualification if required.
