Introduction
My first contract looking after elderly people was in Lebanon in 2020. I was employed to work initially as a housekeeper for an elderly couple in their 80s, they were in fairly good health, but the old man had difficulty walking and I had to attend to him mostly, so it was a chicken run all the time between housekeeping and his medication, his cigarettes, his card games, helping up the stairs. Then the old lady also wanted me to help her in the kitchen, so that was added as well. then the daughter loved me so much that she started bringing her daughter for me to look after. there was no respite, but it was OK, my day was full. It became too much after two years as I wasn't eating properly and they would not give me a bit of time off. I love the child, she was sweet and found it fulfilling to find the time to play with her. Also the elderly couple, they became so dependent on me and it created a sort of bond that i cherished. I was sad to go. After that, I worked for a businessman and his mother in Lebanon. His mother was getting less mobile and he needed someone to be with her all the time. I enjoyed working with them, he was very generous with me and appreciated my presence and how I looked after his mother. I was there for two years, until his mother passed away. That was hard .
